Following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directives for stricter accountability, the Uttar Pradesh government has suspended an officer due to delays in issuing fitness certificates for school buses.
An official statement revealed that the Regional Inspector (Technical) has been suspended, and disciplinary action has been recommended against the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement) for their failure to issue a fitness certificate for a bus in Chitrakoot district.
Chief Minister Adityanath has stressed zero tolerance towards negligence and corruption among officials.
On Wednesday, two buses from Shriji Inter College in Khoh, Chitrakoot, were seized by enforcement officials because their fitness certificates had expired. The buses were detained for about two hours at the Fire Service Complex Police Line, causing significant inconvenience to the children and their families.
Regional Inspector (Technical) Gulab Chandra was responsible for inspecting the buses but failed to do so, leading to the delay in issuing the necessary certificates. This lapse resulted in the buses being seized.
Uttar Pradesh government has acted swiftly. Gulab Chandra has been suspended immediately, and a recommendation for disciplinary action against Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement) Vivek Kumar Shukla has been made. The government has also issued strict guidelines to all Transportation Department personnel to prevent such issues in the future.
