Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has stepped in to assist a tribal girl who, despite securing a seat at IIT Patna, was forced to herd goats due to financial difficulties. Badavath Madhulatha from Rajanna Sircilla district achieved an 824th rank in the JEE under the scheduled tribe (ST) category and earned a spot in IIT Patna. However, her family, struggling financially, couldn’t cover the Rs 2.5 lakh needed for her B. Tech in engineering physics. Madhulatha, whose parents are agricultural laborers, managed to pay only Rs 17,500 for admission. With her father unwell, she had to graze goats to support her family.
The faculty at Tribal Welfare Junior College, where Madhulatha completed her 12th grade, appealed for help as she needed to pay the fees by July 27. The state government responded by providing financial aid. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy praised Madhulatha for her achievements despite financial hardships. He announced on ‘X’ that the tribal welfare department had released the necessary funds for her education. The state government has waived Rs 1 lakh of the tuition fee and provided Rs 1,51,831 to cover remaining academic, hostel, and other expenses. The Chief Minister expressed hope that Madhulatha will continue to excel and bring honor to Telangana.
