Kalaburagi

On Sunday, an incident occurred at Shree Cement Factory in Sedam town, Kalaburagi district, where a young worker from Jharkhand, Rajkumar (26), lost his life due to inadequate safety measures. This marks the second fatality at the factory in recent weeks, following the death of Indra Kumara, a resident of Benakanahalli, who passed away under similar circumstances. The factory, which has now been linked to a series of fatalities, has seen four deaths in the past two months alone, with two victims hailing from Sedam.

Despite the alarming frequency of these incidents, there has been a noticeable lack of response from both local representatives and factory authorities. No government officials, including the minister, have visited the site to address the ongoing safety issues. The absence of adequate safety protocols and inspections has been highlighted as a significant concern.

The factory’s management and the responsible authorities have been criticized for their negligence in implementing and enforcing necessary safety measures to protect workers. In response to the latest incident, a case has been registered at the Sedam Police Station, and an investigation is underway. The lack of attention to these repeated tragedies has sparked outrage among local residents and workers, who are demanding immediate action to prevent further loss of life.
