Patna
A protest march named the ‘Aakrosh March’ was organized in Patna by the INDIA bloc, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), on Saturday. The march was held to criticize the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government for its handling of law and order issues. Leaders and members of the RJD, Congress, and left parties participated, carrying posters, banners, and flags.
The protest was sparked by the recent murder of Jitan Sahani, the father of VIP chief Mukesh Sahani, which has become a key issue for the opposition. The march began at Income Tax Square and proceeded towards the district magistrate’s office, passing through Dak Bungalow Chowk. Despite police barricades at Income Tax Square, the protesters advanced to Dak Bungalow Chowk. Heavy police barricades there halted further progress, leading to a scuffle between the demonstrators and the police.
Authorities eventually permitted one representative from each party to deliver a memorandum to Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh at the district magistrate’s office. Criticism was directed at the state government’s handling of rising crime rates, with statements emphasizing the government’s silence on escalating crime and the need for accountability. The safety concerns for both prominent politicians and ordinary citizens in Bihar were highlighted, with calls for answers in the upcoming Assembly session and statements questioning CM Nitish Kumar’s leadership.
