New Delhi
The Civil Aviation Ministry announced on Saturday that airline systems at Indian airports have resumed normal operations following a significant Microsoft Windows outage that affected systems globally.
The Ministry assured that travel adjustments and refunds are being managed as they continue to monitor airport situations closely. Since 3 am, airline systems across airports have started working normally. Flight operations are going smoothly now, the Ministry stated.
Despite this, a backlog from the previous day’s disruptions is being cleared gradually. The Ministry expects all issues to be resolved by noon.
On Friday, hundreds of flights, including those operated by IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air, faced delays and cancellations due to the outage. Data from flightradar24 indicated that over 400 flights were delayed and more than 50 were canceled at Delhi Airport alone.
IndiGo, a low-cost carrier, experienced significant disruptions and activated ‘war rooms’ at four major airports to manage the situation. Other airlines, including Akasa Air and SpiceJet, also reported operational disruptions. However, SpiceJet confirmed that its operations had returned to normal following the resolution of the technical issue.
