Hatti Gold Mine Soil Collapse, One Killed, Four Injured

One laborer died and four were seriously injured due to a landslide in the district’s Hatti gold mine. The accident took place around 3.30 am on Friday within 2800 feet of Mallappa shaft of Hatti gold mine in Lingasugur taluk.

A laborer named Maunesha died. Four others were seriously injured. Among them, Hanumanthraya, Boodeppa and Rangaswamy were seriously injured. The injured Hanumanthray has been admitted to KLE Hospital in Belagavi, Budeppa and Rangaswamy have been admitted to Kaveri Hospital in Bengaluru and Shivaraj has been admitted to Hatti Gani Hospital for treatment.Workers went to work on Thursday night shift. While working within 2800 feet underground, the disaster occurred due to landslide. Officials of Mines Department and Hatti Police have visited the incident site and conducted an inspection. A case has been registered at Hatti Police Station.
