Saudia Airlines has issued an official statement regarding an incident involving flight SV792 from Riyadh to Peshawar, where smoke emerged from one of the aircraft’s tires during landing at Peshawar International Airport in Pakistan on Thursday. The airline promptly halted the aircraft and notified authorities, ensuring the safe evacuation of all passengers and crew members.
Saudia confirms that during landing at Peshawar International Airport, flight SV792 experienced smoke from one of its tires. The aircraft was immediately stopped, and authorities were informed. All guests and crew safely evacuated using the aircraft’s evacuation slide. The aircraft is now undergoing thorough technical evaluation, repairs, comprehensive inspections, and subsequent tests to ensure its continued safety.
Initially reported by Pakistan Observer, the incident had suggested a fire due to landing gear issues, but Saudi Airlines clarified that it was smoke from a tire, not a fire. Despite the tense landing, no casualties were reported. The Civil Aviation Authority and local fire brigade swiftly responded, extinguishing the smoke and securing the area.
