The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has green lit a budget of Rs 2,887.32 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25. Chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh in Chandigarh, the meeting covered several key agendas. These include expanding city surveillance with more CCTV cameras and adaptive traffic management, building new water treatment plants, upgrading existing ones, and reinforcing water drainage and sewer treatment networks.
The GMDA Authority sanctioned Phase 3 of the CCTV project, allocating Rs 422 crore for enhanced surveillance and traffic management across Gurugram. This initiative will significantly increase CCTV installations from around 4,000 to about 14,000 cameras.
Moreover, the meeting approved construction projects aimed at easing traffic congestion, including a flyover at Sector 45-46-51-52 with a budget of Rs 52 crore and another flyover at Sector 85-86-89-90. Enhancements to sports infrastructure were also given the go-ahead, with Rs 634.30 crore earmarked for upgrading Tau Devi Lal Stadium. This includes new training centers and modern sports facilities to meet international standards.
Further approvals encompassed significant water infrastructure projects, such as a 100 MLD Water Treatment Plant at Chandu Budhera (Rs 78 crore), Unit No. IV at Basai (Rs 247 crore), and upgrades to the Dhanwapur Main Pumping Station to 650 MLD capacity (Rs 119 crore).
Additionally, the authority endorsed the procurement of 200 electric buses under a Gross Cost Contracting Model, aimed at enhancing public transportation across the GMDA area, with an investment of Rs 69.66 crore.
