Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India’s longstanding battle against terrorism, describing it as horrible and disgusting, during a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday. Reflecting on India’s own 40-year struggle with terrorism, Modi expressed empathy for the pain experienced by nations like Russia, particularly following  terror incidents in Moscow and Dagestan.

I can imagine how deep its pain would be, Modi remarked, condemning all forms of terrorism unequivocally. He also highlighted the global attention on his visit to Russia, underscoring the importance of fostering peace for the sake of future generations.

Modi reiterated his belief in dialogue over conflict, stressing that true peace cannot be achieved through military means alone. For the future of our new generation, peace is the most important thing, he asserted. He lamented the tragic loss of innocent lives, particularly children, in conflicts and terror attacks, calling such losses heart-wrenching.

Everyone who believes in humanity is pained when there is loss of lives, Modi stated. He noted the detailed discussions held with President Putin on these critical issues, highlighting the shared commitment to finding peaceful resolutions amidst global challenges.

Overall, Modi’s remarks underscored India’s solidarity with Russia in combating terrorism and promoting global peace, highlighting the humanitarian toll of violence on innocent civilians, especially children.
