Unauhtorised BPL Cards Should Be Cancelled, CM Siddaramaiah Instructs Officers

In Karnataka 80 percent have BPL cards, whereas in Tamil Nadu it is 40 percent. According to the Niti Aayog, the percentage of people below the poverty line in the state should be 5.67 percent of the population. But we have given BPL card to 1.27 crore families in the state. The Chief Minister suggested that ineligible cards should be canceled and should be provided to those who are eligible
Don’t make people wander unnecessarily. Listen to their complaints and provide necessary redressal, the Chief Minister instructed.
We have done better drought management in the state this time. Problematic villages with regard to drinking water have been identified early and alternative arrangements have been made, so there is no problem anywhere. 85 crore was spent on drought management and it was done transparently. RS 783 crore is available in the Deputy Commissioner’s account.
In the current monsoon season, the state has so far received 7% more rainfall. 225 such waterlogged villages have been identified by 1247 gram panchayats as the rains are likely to increase this year. In 27 districts, 177 taluks and 1,247 gram panchayats have been identified as being prone to heavy rains and task forces should be formed in each place. 20,38,334 people have been identified as prone to frequent floods.
