Yogi Govt To Establish ‘Mitra Van’ In Nepal And Border States Of UP

The establishment of ‘Mitra Van’ under Vriksharopan Jan Abhiyan-2024 has been announced by the Yogi Adityanath government. This initiative will take place along the borders of Uttar Pradesh and Nepal. Locations for this purpose have been selected by 35 forest divisions. The Forest Department is coordinating with neighbouring states and Nepal to enhance greenery by planting 35 crore saplings. The campaign will also involve dignitaries from other states.

Tree plantation programs will be conducted in border districts, including Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, and others. ‘Mitra Van’ will be established along the borders of districts adjoining Nepal, such as Sonauli in Maharajganj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Shravasti, Bahraich, and Pilibhit.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Sudhir Kumar Sharma has directed the selection of locations and plant species for ‘Mitra Van.’ Coordination with Forest Department officials from neighbouring states and Nepal will be established. Along with ‘Mitra Van,’ special forests like ‘Shakti Van,’ ‘Yuva Van,’ and ‘Bal Van’ will be created. Preparations for the plantation of 35 crore saplings have been completed by the department.
