The dengue prevention drive has been intensified by the district administration and health department, with several programmes implemented to raise awareness and promote disease prevention measures. Households are visited every Friday by officials who advise residents to eliminate breeding grounds for mosquitoes on their premises. In Kelgeri area, Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu led officials in interacting with locals and distributing pamphlets detailing dengue prevention measures. Guppi fishes were released into water tanks to control mosquito larvae, a common strategy to curb the spread of disease-carrying mosquitoes.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, 253 people in the district have tested positive for dengue since January, all of whom have been treated and cured. The situation, she assured, is managed well. Beds have been allocated in the district hospital and other government facilities for dengue patients, and there is an adequate supply of medicines. District Health Officer Dr. Shashi Patil and other officials attended the initiative.
