Min. Dinesh Gundurao Launches Awareness Campaign To Destroy Aedes Mosquito Breeding Sites

Health Minister Dinesh Gundurao initiated a large-scale campaign on Friday to eliminate breeding sites of the Aedes mosquito, which spreads dengue fever. Accompanied by health workers, he visited homes to inspect stagnant water areas where Aedes mosquitoes breed. The minister examined locations where mosquito larvae were found, such as coconut shells, tubs, and tires near houses, observing the health department’s efforts to destroy these breeding sites. He advised local residents to remain vigilant.
Minister Dinesh Gundurao has also informed the media that the health department has launched a campaign to eradicate Aedes mosquito breeding sites as part of dengue control measures, urging public cooperation. Health workers are actively raising awareness by visiting every household.
Added to this, strategies were proposed to identify dengue hotspots and establish fever clinics. It was recommended to conduct dengue tests promptly for individuals exhibiting fever in these areas for early diagnosis and treatment. Minister Dinesh Gundurao highlighted the collaborative efforts involving the health department, rural development department, district administration, local officials, and teachers in combating dengue.
Present at the event were MLC Ivan D’Souza and officials from district and taluk health departments.
