Four individuals lost their lives, and three others sustained serious injuries when a truck overturned on the Badulla-Soranathota road in Sri Lanka’s Uva Province on Friday, according to police reports. The accident occurred around noon as the truck was transporting construction workers, as reported by source.
The injured individuals have been rushed to a local hospital, where they are in critical condition. Recent days have seen an uptick in accidents across Sri Lanka, including a collision between a bus and a cement transport truck in Madampe, North Western Province, which left around 25 people injured on Thursday morning.
Motor vehicle accidents are unfortunately common in Sri Lanka, with 2,557 fatalities resulting from 2,200 fatal traffic accidents reported in 2023.
