CM Dhami Condoles Death Of Uttarakhand Soldier In Ladakh

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed sadness on Sunday over the death of a soldier from Pauri Garhwal who was among five Indian Army personnel who died during a military exercise in Ladakh. In a post on X, CM Dhami conveyed his condolences and prayed for the departed soldier’s soul to find peace. He also acknowledged the soldier’s bravery and dedication to serving the nation, stating that his sacrifice would continue to inspire Uttarakhand’s youth.

The incident occurred when an Army Tank met with an accident during a river crossing exercise in the Daulat Beg Oldie area of Ladakh on Friday evening. Defence officials confirmed that all five bodies were recovered after the T-72 tank they were operating encountered a mishap due to sudden water level rise.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda expressed their condolences on the soldiers’ demise. They all expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and praised the soldiers’ dedication to duty.

According to a statement by Defence PRO, Leh, the accident happened during the de-induction from a military training activity, when the tank got stuck in the Shyok River near Saser Brangsa due to high water levels. Rescue efforts were hampered by the swift current, resulting in the tragic loss of the tank crew’s lives.
