Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar convened a meeting with BJP leaders and workers in Haryana to discuss preparations for the upcoming 2024 Assembly elections. Speaking to reporters in Karnal after the meeting, the former Haryana Chief Minister emphasized the party’s readiness and the enthusiasm among workers for the Vidhan Sabha polls. He dismissed the effectiveness of Congress’ tactics, asserting that the falsehoods they employed during previous elections, including the recent Lok Sabha polls, would not sway voters anymore.

Regarding senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Hathras instead of Tamil Nadu, Khattar criticized Gandhi’s remarks in Parliament, expressing surprise at such statements questioning the Hindu community’s nature. He suggested that voters would respond resoundingly during the upcoming assembly elections.

In the last Lok Sabha elections, both BJP and Congress secured five seats each in Haryana. BJP attained a vote share of 46.11%, while Congress garnered 43.67%. The Aam Aadmi Party, their ally, received 3.94% of the votes. In contrast, BJP had won all ten seats in the state during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The Election Commission of India reported BJP winning 240 seats in the recent elections, down from their 2019 total of 303. The Congress made significant gains, securing 99 seats. Despite predictions, BJP’s coalition, the National Democratic Alliance, won 292 seats, while the opposition bloc crossed 230 seats, posing formidable competition.
