IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall In Northwest India Over The Next 5 Days

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall across Northwest India, including Delhi and the Northeastern states, over the next 4-5 days.

IMD also announced that the Southwest Monsoon has progressed further into the remaining parts of East Uttar Pradesh and additional areas of West Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The monsoon’s northern limit now extends through Jaisalmer and Churu in Rajasthan, Bhiwani, Delhi, Aligarh, Hardoi, Moradabad, Una (Western UP), Pathankot in Punjab, and Jammu.

According to the weather office, conditions are conducive for the Southwest Monsoon to advance into more parts of West Rajasthan, Haryana-Chandigarh & Punjab, and the remaining parts of West Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu over the next 2-3 days.

The IMD bulletin predicts isolated heavy rainfall over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and East Rajasthan from June 29 to July 3; over West Rajasthan on June 29, July 2, and 3; over Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha on June 29 and 30; and over Bihar during June 30 to July 2.

The bulletin further forecasts widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over Northwest, Central, and East India during the next five days.

IMD also anticipates widespread moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms over Kerala, Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra; and isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall over Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, and Telangana during the next five days.
