In addition to collecting 66 kg of opium, Punjab Police reported on Friday that they had broken one of the largest interstate narcotics smuggling syndicates operating out of Jharkhand and detained two guys.

DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that the opium was hidden in a specially made and constructed container that was placed beneath a Maruti Swift vehicle.

Sukhyad Singh and Jagraj Singh have been named as those who were taken into custody. In addition to the substantial amount of opium that was retrieved, police teams also found 400 kilos of gold and Rs 40,000 in drug money.

According to DGP Yadav, additional financial investigation has turned up 42 bank accounts that the organized opium gang was using for financial operations. The Fazilka Police has frozen all 42 bank accounts with Rs 1.86 crore of drug proceeds after a financial trail in less than 24 hours, he stated.

The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act’s 68F permits property confiscation, and the DGP stated that the Fazilka Police have started the process.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Fazilka) Pragya Jain provided details of the operation, stating that they had information about the accused trafficking opium from Jharkhand and then using the quick car to return to Dalmir Khera in Punjab via Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan.
