Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state organizing secretary Mohan Dasari has strongly condemned the NEET system, asserting that it rolls back the clock on progress by three decades. Speaking at a protest held at Freedom Park against alleged NEET irregularities on Wednesday, Dasari criticized the national examination for unfairly disadvantaging Karnataka students.
Dasari highlighted the disparity, noting that while historically only one or two students achieved top NEET ranks, this year 67 students reportedly scored a perfect 720 out of 720. He cited this as evidence of systemic irregularities and injustice in the examination process.
The NEET system undermines social justice. Our state’s medical colleges should prioritize Karnataka students. If six students from a single room can achieve perfect scores, it raises serious doubts of malpractice,”Dasari declared.
Drawing inspiration from Tamil Nadu’s stance, Dasari urged Karnataka to form a committee and legally challenge the imposition of NEET, advocating for a state-specific exemption through legislative measures. He proposed reverting to considering only PUC and CET marks for medical admissions, emphasizing the need for unified political opposition from state MLAs and MPs.
Ashok Mrutyunjaya, AAP’s Bengaluru city organising secretary, echoed Dasari’s sentiments, criticizing the central government’s handling of the NEET issue amidst growing national scrutiny and Supreme Court inquiries.
AAP members and supporters gathered in large numbers, chanting slogans against the Modi government’s alleged injustice through NEET and advocating for state autonomy in educational policies.
