The City police have arrested another person in connection with the stabbing of two BJP workers reported at Boliyar in Konaje police station limits on June 9. This brings the total number of arrests in the case to six. The latest individual arrested is Aboobakar. The two injured BJP workers are out of danger and are undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Police are searching for 14 other suspects involved in the incident. The prime accused, who has a criminal record, remains at large. The weapon allegedly used in the stabbing has been recovered. Three special teams have been formed to apprehend the remaining suspects.

City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal stated that provocative slogans raised by BJP workers during a procession instigated the altercation leading to the stabbing. The procession, held to celebrate the swearing-in of PM Modi, saw BJP workers raise slogans such as ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ near an auto stand in Boliyar. These statements were circulated on social media and referred to Muslims as Pakistanis, hurting their sentiments.

Cases have been booked against both the individuals who committed the stabbing and those who raised provocative slogans. Notices have been served to the suspects who are still absconding. Police personnel present at the spot had previously prevented the procession from being carried out a second time.

Efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the remaining suspects, with authorities prioritizing the swift resolution of the case.
