Capt Brijesh Chowta, the newly elected BJP MP, has accused the police of succumbing to pressure from Congress leaders by filing a counter-case against BJP workers in relation to the Boliyar stabbing incident. Chowta questioned the timing of the case, arguing that if BJP workers had made provocative statements referring to Muslims as Pakistanis, the case should have been filed the same day, not the following day.

Chowta stated that Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal has made statements that could mislead the investigation. He claimed that the counter-case was politically motivated and was filed only after District Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao visited the city. Chowta condemned Rao for not visiting the victims, despite being on the hospital campus for another program on Monday. Chowta emphasized that the police should operate according to the law and not be influenced by political pressure.

The BJP and the public will not remain quiet if the police support those who disturb peace. A comprehensive probe into the incident was demanded, and those responsible should be brought to justice.

Satish Kumpala, the Dakshina Kannada BJP District President, called for the release of CCTV footage that allegedly shows BJP workers referring to Muslims as Pakistanis. Kumpala accused the police of acting under the influence of Congress leaders and threatened protests if proper action is not taken against the culprits. It was also alleged that BJP workers were booked for bursting crackers to celebrate the swearing-in of PM Modi. Kumpala urged the withdrawal of the counter-case against BJP workers in the Boliyar incident, citing a similar case involving the offering of namaz on a street in Mangaluru, which was withdrawn.
