Murder Case, Projected As Accident, Cracked

APMC Police have cracked the case of death of a man near BIMS Hospital here recently. Finding it to be a case of murder and not an accident as it was projected earlier Police have arrested six men, and are on the lookout for another accused.

The victim is Virupakash Kotrappa Harlapur (60), resident of Vanashri Nagar if Sattur of Dharwad district. He had come to a relative’s home there. Following his death in a car accident near the hospital on May 30, Virupakash’s elder brother Suresh Harlapur, resident of Betageri in Gadag district, filed a complaint with Belagavi police.

Police investigated the case by scanning CCTV footages and other evidences, and interrogated one Mahesh Siddram Sunkad (24), resident of Shastri Nagar here. It was then revealed that Virupakash was killed in cold blood after running a car over him, the accused left the vehicle in a garage. The accused are Basavaraj Bhagavati (50), Prakash Rathod (41), Ravi Kumbaragi (28), Sachin Patil (24), Ramu Vantamuri, 28, and Mahesh Siddaram Sunkad, 24.

Another accused Rama Patil is on the run. The accused and the victim are relatives, and the latter is said to have been killed over an illicit relationship. Investigation is on. Police Inspectors PR Channagiri, Khaza Hussain and others were part of the team.
