Sita Soren Alleges Irregularities In Voting Process, Demands Re-Poll

BJP candidate Sita Soren from Jharkhand’s Dumka Lok Sabha seat accused irregularities in the voting process and called for re-polling on Saturday. Soren, the sister-in-law of jailed former chief minister Hemant Soren, claimed intentional delays in voting.

I visited several booths in Dumka urban and found issues. I informed the deputy commissioner. Inexperienced booth level officers (BLOs) are causing trouble for voters, Soren said. She believes the delays are deliberate and plans to request the Election Commission to cancel and re-conduct the voting.

Soren’s concerns arose after receiving complaints about delays at booths 44 and 45. A three-time JMM MLA, she joined the BJP on March 20, citing isolation and neglect from the JMM following her husband Durga Soren’s death in 2009.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar refuted her allegations, stating that polling was smooth in Dumka, Rajmahal, and Godda constituencies.
