Abhishek Sharma emerged as one of the standout performers of the 2024 IPL season. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) became the highest-scoring team of the season, largely due to his partnership with Travis Head. Sharma topped the chart for most sixes, hitting 42 during the tournament, followed closely by Heinrich Klaasen and Virat Kohli, both with 38 sixes. Batting as an opener, Sharma scored 484 runs at a strike rate of 204.22 throughout the tournament.
After the final, Sharma’s father, Rajkumar Sharma, offered words of encouragement, stating it is acceptable to win and lose as part of the game. He acknowledged his son’s excellent journey in the IPL and mentioned that the team believed a better performance from Abhishek could have altered the outcome. Rajkumar also noted the praise from Pat Cummins and Travis Head, who regarded Abhishek as a crucial player contributing to the team’s victories.
Despite Sharma’s impressive batting throughout the season, he, like his teammates, faltered in the final. An exceptional delivery by Mitchell Starc led to Sharma’s dismissal on the fifth ball of the first innings, resulting in him being sent to the pavilion with just two runs.
