Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) Chairman V. Ram Prasath Manohar has urged officials to expedite inspections of rainwater directly entering sewers, aiming to alleviate pressure on drainage systems and prevent inconvenience to the public. In meeting on Saturday chaired by Deputy Chief Minister K. Sivakumar, the need for preparedness ahead of the monsoon season was mentioned, directing authorities to take precautionary measures.

Efforts such as manhole desilting and sewage cleaning are currently underway; however, persistent complaints highlight the necessity for effective management. Manohar underscored the importance of ensuring rainwater is adequately drained, highlighting the detrimental effects of its direct addition to sewage systems.

Furthermore, BWSSB, an initiative aimed at promoting water literacy among citizens, advocates for prioritizing water conservation and adopting rainwater harvesting systems. During discussions addressing concerns raised by the DCM, Manohar stressed the significance of maintaining drinking water quality to safeguard public health, advocating for increased water testing frequency.

Principal Chief Engineer Suresha, along with Chief Engineers L. Kumar Naik, K.N. Paramesh, S.V. Venkatesh and others were present.
