DCM Addresses Post-Flood Situation In Yelahanka Zone

Must read

Following the flash floods in Yelahanka zone’s gated community villas, Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar visited the affected area to evaluate the situation. Shivakumar directed officials to issue notices to developers of private layouts failing to provide adequate infrastructure.

During his inspection of Rajakaluves in the city, Shivakumar highlighted the critical need for proper drainage systems in private layouts to prevent water seepage into homes, especially during heavy rains. He attributed the problems to developers’ negligence in designing layouts with effective drainage mechanisms. Shivakumar asserted that civic body officials would address the inconvenience caused by developers’ shortcomings.

Following a meeting with residents of flood-impacted Ramanashree Gardenia and Northwood villas, Shivakumar announced plans to advance unfinished canal work. Measures will be implemented to separate rainwater and sewage flow, with prompt action to commence soon. Additionally, Shivakumar pledged to identify rain-prone areas and undertake their developmental initiatives gradually.

Responding to queries regarding Rajkaluve encroachment, Shivakumar assured strict action against violators in private layouts. He also mentioned the mandatory installation of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), with notices to be issued to non-compliant parties.

During an inspection of the royal canal near the Jawahar Lal Nehru Centre for Modern Science Research (JNCSAR) adjacent to Rachenahalli Lake, Shivakumar assured the completion of pending work within a month. He expressed confidence in the preparedness to prevent future flood situations in case of rain.
