Airport Operations Disrupted Due To Heavy Rainfall

Must read

Continuous rainfall in Bengaluru has wreaked havoc on airport operations, causing disruptions at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). The downpour, which commenced several days ago and persisted into the late hours, led to a series of challenges for travelers and airport officials alike.

Terminal 2 of Kempegowda International Airport, operational since August 31, 2023, has been at the center of attention, with travelers encountering unexpected delays and inconveniences. A leakage issue in Terminal 2 aggravated the situation, prompting chaos among passengers scrambling to navigate through the challenges posed by the inclement weather.

Flight operations were severely affected on Thursday and Friday, with numerous flights, including international ones, facing rerouting due to the adverse weather conditions. Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) issued a statement acknowledging the challenges posed by heavy rains and strong winds, leading to the diversion of several flights to alternative airports, including Chennai.

Despite its inauguration by Prime Minister Modi in November 2022, Terminal 2 continues to grapple with operational hurdles, two years into its opening.
