Modi Govt Wants Country Without Dalits, Backward Communities: Mamata

Tehatta

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the Narendra Modi government of marginalizing Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs). Speaking at a rally in Nadia district’s Tehatta, she supported TMC candidate Mahua Moitra and criticized the BJP’s deceptive claims about citizenship benefits. Banerjee warned that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) could jeopardize the rights of these marginalized groups.

She stated that PM Modi is misleading people by saying the UCC would help everyone. According to Banerjee, implementing the UCC could put SCs, STs, and OBCs at risk, undermining the constitution. She also pointed out that the BJP has falsely promised citizenship to Matuas and other backward castes through the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), suggesting it’s a tactic to revoke their legitimate citizenship and deport them to concentration camps.

Banerjee questioned the Election Commission’s announcement of increased voting percentages four days after voting, expressing her skepticism without outright accusing the EC of wrongdoing. She warned against BJP’s tactics to manipulate voting figures and its alleged intimidation of IAS and IPS officers in West Bengal, vowing to resist any attempt to undermine the state’s governance.

Intimidation, threat, and pressure by the Modi government on state ministers, officials, or people will not work in Bengal, Banerjee said. She assured the people that her party would stand firm against any efforts to diminish the rights of SCs, STs, and OBCs.
