Ahead Of Free And Fair Elections, Election Officers Are Free To Take Immediate Action If MCC Is Violated: Observer M Lakshmi

General Observer of the Election Commission M Lakshmi said that elections are being held for Davangere Lok Sabha constituency on May 7 and the Election Officers are free to take immediate action if the Model Code of Conduct is violated.

She held a meeting with the Returning Officers, Assistant Returning Officers, SVEEP Chairman, Nodal Officers at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Monday and spoke about the election statistics and Model Code of Conduct implementation agenda for their respective constituencies. Any violation of the Model Code of Conduct will be brought to the notice of the Election Officer. By working actively, all the teams should perform their duty to conduct a peaceful and free election by creating an environment where voters can voluntarily participate in voting without any lure or pressure.

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Dr MV Venkatesh said that election duty should be carried out transparently, freely, fairly, according to rules and actively. Election rules should be ensured not to be violated at any stage.

The Nodal Officer Bhavana informed that 1458 voters above 85 years of age and 804 disabled persons will be voting from home. And 915 absentee voters who come under the essential service will vote at the facility.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer and SVEEP Committee Chairman Suresh B Itnal and Assistant Returning Officers were present in the meeting.
