New Delhi, PTI

Officials announced on Wednesday that the CBSE will initiate a pilot program for the National Credit Framework (NCrF) in classes 6, 9, and 11 starting from the 2024-25 academic session. This move aligns with the government’s implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, aiming to seamlessly integrate school, higher, and vocational education, allowing students to accumulate credits from pre-primary to PhD levels.

The CBSE has developed draft guidelines for the NCrF’s implementation, which have been discussed in workshops and approved by the Union Ministry of Education. To further refine these guidelines, a pilot program will be conducted in CBSE-affiliated schools.

Interested school principals are invited to participate in the pilot program by providing their contact details through a provided link. Under the NCrF, students can earn credits through various activities such as classroom learning, laboratory work, projects, sports, arts, social work, and vocational education.

The shift towards competency-based education aims to bridge the gap in learning outcomes. Assessments will be crucial for earning credits across different learning domains. These earned credits will be stored in each student’s Academic Bank of Credit (ABC), linked to their APAAR ID and DigiLocker for future reference.
