AAP MP Sanjay Singh asserted on Wednesday that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was being deprived of fundamental rights in Tihar jail, with no access to family members or lawyers. Expressing outrage over Kejriwal’s treatment, Singh criticized the Modi government, questioning if it aimed to turn Tihar into a totalitarian regime akin to Hitler’s gas chambers.
During a press briefing, Singh rebuked the Centre and BJP for justifying Kejriwal’s arrest in connection with the Delhi liquor scandal. He argued that the BJP lacked moral authority to lecture on political integrity, highlighting Kejriwal’s sacrifices in public life.
Singh alleged that Tihar jail officials were under pressure to deny Kejriwal basic rights, including meetings with his elderly parents. He protested the last-minute cancellation of a meeting between Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, himself, and Kejriwal due to purported security concerns, criticizing the lack of transparency in the process. AAP leaders reported that the scheduled meeting at 1 pm. was abruptly canceled by Tihar jail authorities, citing security reasons, promising to reschedule it soon.
