Islamabad

A preliminary investigation into the Besham suicide attack on Chinese nationals has revealed that the targeted vehicle lacked both bulletproof and bombproof features, as reported by sources. The attack, which occurred on March 26 in Bisham City, claimed the lives of five Chinese engineers and one Pakistani citizen. The district inspector general (DIG) of Malakand disclosed on April 4 that a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a convoy of foreign nationals traveling from Islamabad to their camp in Dasu, Shangla.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed disciplinary action against senior police officials for negligence, as per an inquiry report into the attack. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that specific police officials will face action within 15 days. Authorities have recovered the remains of the vehicle used in the attack, and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested over 10 terrorists and accomplices linked to the incident. Civil and military leadership have pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice, with the PM ordering foolproof security measures for Chinese nationals in Pakistan.
