Production for Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayan has begun without Madhu Mantena, the original producer. Mantena withdrew from the project over concerns about production costs, despite previously collaborating with DNEG virtual production. However, he retains the rights to produce ‘Ramayana’ once Tiwari’s version concludes. Mantena provided compensation of Rs. 80 crore upon his exit.
Despite delays last month due to costume adjustments, production has progressed with look tests at Film City using new outfits. Auditions were held for body doubles for Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, portraying Lord Ram and Raavan, respectively. This marks the start of filming for the trilogy, with the first part set for release in 2025.
Selected body doubles will film stunt sequences against green screens, as reported by Mid-Day. Extras have been enlisted for crowd scenes. The team now prepares for an intensive filming schedule ahead.
Despite Mantena’s departure, Ramayana aims to deliver an epic cinematic experience. With meticulous planning and preparations underway, the team is committed to bringing the timeless epic to life on the silver screen.
