At a recent press conference, Atishi, a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and a minister in Delhi, accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of deliberately trying to harm her party’s unity and strength before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. She claimed that the BJP plans to arrest four more AAP leaders, including herself, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Durgesh Pathak, and Raghav Chadha, in the next two months to disrupt AAP’s leadership. Atishi also said that a BJP aide tried to persuade her to join their party, hinting that refusal could lead to her arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) within a month.
She stated that recent actions by the BJP, like naming her and Saurabh Bharadwaj in court proceedings, are based on old statements known to the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for over a year and a half. Atishi believes the BJP’s sudden interest in statements aims to weaken AAP, though top leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and Satyendra Jain have been jailed.
Atishi concluded by alleging that BJP is deliberately targeting AAP’s leadership to undermine its strength before the elections. This follows the ED’s recent application for judicial custody of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, where he reportedly claimed that an accused, Vijay Nair, reported to Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj, not to him.
