Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is set to unveil a 3.3-kilometer under-construction stretch between Ragigudda and Central Silk Board. Scheduled for public opening in June, the m-long double-decker elevator promises to offer a significant relief to the traffic congestion plaguing the Central Silk Board area.
According to a senior official quoted by The New Indian Express, the inauguration of the signal-free elevated road will particularly benefit motorists traveling from BMT Layout to KR Puram, Ragigudda to KR Puram, and Ragigudda towards Electronic City. Initially slated for opening by the end of May, the double-decker flyover is expected to divert the vehicular traffic bottleneck at the Central Silk Board Junction, which witnesses over 15,000 vehicles every hour.
On March 17, a significant milestone was achieved with the continuous laying of a 2,520-cubic meter concrete slab over 42 hours. With a curing period of 28 days, the slab is set to be ready by April 15, followed by additional construction time. The ongoing development includes the construction of five loops and ramps at the Central Silk Board Junction, facilitating smoother connectivity between Ragigudda, Hosur Road, HSR Layout, BTM Layout, and the flyover road.
Furthermore, the Central Silk Board Junction Outer Ring Road (Phase 2A) and RV Road to Bommasandra Marg (Reach) will serve as the interchange for BMRCL’s 2A route, with the return road expected to be operational by December. Notably, this junction is identified as one of the most congested choke points in South India, higlighting the critical need for infrastructural enhancements to alleviate traffic woes.
