Social activists have launched an email campaign seeking justice for police personnel who are posted on duty at various check posts as part of the implementation of the Model Code Of Conduct (MCC) in the state.

Activists have stated that making policemen work in the scorching heat for 12 hours will affect their health. They urged that the duty hours of policemen should also be limited to eight hours a day.

Activists have urged people to send emails in this regard to the Director General and Inspector General of Police and other senior officers from the Karnataka State Police.

Lok Sabha elections are approaching, and for this, the Police and Revenue departments have started checking vehicles at the district border to initiate strict action against violations. As you know, the temperature is increasing day by day. According to available information, the officers of the revenue department are working eight hours a day, and the staff of the police department are working 12 hours a day, said N Udaya Acharya in an email sent to senior police officers. He has urged the Police department to deploy more staff, and thereby reduce the working hours.

Social activist Shashidhar Shetty, who launched the campaign, said that, it would be is difficult for anyone to work at check posts for 12 hours, Long work hours will lead to dehydration and cause tension. I have already discussed this issue with a senior police officer. Those Policemen on duty at check posts also have families. Hence, this issue should be tackled soon, he added.
