In a rare incident in Sagara village of Shahapura taluk, a mother along with her son has written the SSLC examination. As Karnataka Public School student Mallikarjuna Sivannachouda Gunda walked into the examination center with his mother Gangamma (32) to write the SSLC examination for the current year, other students looked on.
She studied till 9th standard and had to drop out due to some reason. A marriage also took place in between, she said, adding that she used to go to school even after marriage. However, she stopped reading due to personal reasons and said that she is currently working as a volunteer in a women’s self-help association and has appeared for the examination as SSLC certificate is required.
