Wayanad
In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Kerala, the BJP’s Kerala chief K Surendran will contest against Rahul Gandhi in the Wayanad constituency. Surendran, confident of victory, compared Gandhi’s fate in Wayanad to his loss in Amethi.
Wayanad, where Gandhi won by a huge margin in 2019, is now witnessing a significant battle with Surendran’s candidature. The Left Front has also nominated senior CPI leader Annie Raja for the seat.
Surendran, expressing his views after the announcement, claimed that Gandhi hasn’t addressed the development issues in Wayanad, similar to Amethi. He emphasized the need for change in representation for the constituency.
Meanwhile, Annie Raja of the Left parties stated that their candidature decisions aren’t based on opponents but on their own principles.
The BJP-NDA alliance, announcing Surendran as their candidate, entered the race later than the Left parties. Annie Raja highlighted their proactive campaigning and engagement with voters.
Wayanad, grappling with various issues like human-animal conflicts, holds importance in this election. The state government’s efforts to address these challenges, including proposed amendments to the Wildlife Act, are being debated. Gandhi’s decision to contest from Wayanad, after his loss in Amethi, adds significance to this electoral battle.
