Mysuru royal family scion Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar said the Jain principle of ahimsa, or non-violence, has been the very foundation of India’s Independence, too. Addressing a religious meet on the fifth day of the Mahamastakabhisheka of Bhagavan Shri Bahubali Swami at Venur, in Belthangady taluk of the district, he said ahimsa has been a well-acclaimed fundamental principle across the nation. The fundamental principle behind ‘ahimsa’ is the major reason for India winning its Independence.

Further, Jainism has also had its influence on Kannada literature. The Kannada literary world is incomplete without Jain literature, Wadiyar said, adding that the contribution of the Jain community to the nation is immeasurable. Highlighting the influence of Jain heritage on the royal family of Mysuru, Wadiyar said, it is a truth that most of the dynasties have ruled the state under the shadow of the Jain community. The royal family of Mysuru has a strong bond with the Jain community for centuries.
He further said, though the royal family belongs to the Vaishnava traditions, the traditions of all communities have been followed. As part of the Mahamastakabhisheka, Yuvaraj Jain and his family made offerings comprising 216 kalasha.
Several rituals were   including mantapa prathishte, vedi prathishte, agrodaka procession and Maturahwanadi Kriyayukta Garbhavatharana Kalyana. Garbhavatharana Kalyana, one of the Pancha Kalyana events in the life of Tirthankara, was staged through a dance drama on the occasion.
