Minister Buys Pratham Kalasha For Rs. 11L, Set For Final-Day Ritual

The Pratham Kalasha, which will be used to anoint Lord Bahubali on the final day of the Mahamastakabhisheka which is first of the 1008 kalashas to be poured on the monolith has been bought by Minister for Planning and Statistics D Sudhakar from Challakere for Rs. 11L. Sudhakar said it was his good fortune that, he and his family members got the opportunity to serve Lord Bahubali. He will come along with all family members to take part in the Mahamastakabhisheka on the final day, he added. While Pratham Kalasha is only one in number, those who want to take part in the final day abhisheka need not be disappointed. For there are several other kalasha available starting with Shathamana Kalasha, which costs Rs. 5L. The next is Rathna Kalasha priced at Rs. 3 lakh. Starting with the Pratham Kalasha there are 10 types of kalashas, with Bhakthi Kalasha priced the least Rs. 3K. On the final day of Mahamastakabhisheka, Poorna Kumbha, Chatushkona Kumbha, abhisheka of Narikela, Ksheera, Ikshurasa, Kalka Churna, Shree Gandha, Chandana, Asta Gandha will be distributed by auction on March 1. While water for Poornakumbha Kalasha will be brought from Shantinatha Basadi, for all other abhisheka purposes, the water is drawn from the well in the premises of Parshwanath Basadi behind the Bahubali statue.

After 1008 kalasha abhisheka the Poorna Kumbhabhisheka and Chatushkona Kalasa Abhisheka will take place. After this 1008 kalasha abhisheka, the ritual pouring of tender coconut water, cane juice, milk, rice powder, turmeric, kashaya (medicinal plants), Chatushkona kumbha,  sandalwood,  chandana paste, astha gandha, flowers, poornakumbha, etc will take place till the monolith is completely covered in it. There will again be jala abhisheka after this to cleanse the monolith.
