SWR To Launch Development Works Worth Rs. 1,192Cr

South Western Railway (SWR) is poised to inaugurate a series of development endeavours totalling Rs. 1,192.4Cr on February 26. Among the initiatives is the ambitious redevelopment of 34 stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), anticipated to invigorate trade, commerce, and economic activities across the region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will remotely inaugurate 15 Railway Under Bridges (RUB) and seven Railway Over Bridges (RoB), constructed at a cost of Rs. 113.4Cr, while also laying the foundation stone for seven RoBs and one RuB with an estimated cost of Rs. 278.6Cr.
Manjunath Kanamadi, Chief Public Relations Officer, SWR told that under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) Phase-II, 34 stations across SWR, 28 stations in Karnataka, two in Andhra Pradesh, two in Tamil Nadu and two in Goa are planned to be revamped and modernised at a combined cost of Rs. 801.9Cr. Among these, seven stations of Hubballi division- Almatti, Badami, Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Munirabad, Sanverdam, Vasco Da Gama, 15 stations of Bengaluru division, Tumakuru, Whitefield, Bangarapet, Channapatna, Dharmapuri, Hosur, Doddaballapur, Hindupur, Kengeri, Krishnarajapuram, Kuppam, Malleswaram, Malur, Mandya, Ramanagaram and 12 stations of Mysuru division, Sagar Jambaguru, Sakaleshpur, Shivamogga Town, Subrahmanya Road, Talaguppa, Tiptur, Bantawala, Chamarajanagar, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Hassan and Ranebennur have been shortlisted. The revamped stations will undergo a stunning makeover and be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, he added.
He further said to ensure safety and facilitate smooth transit for both rail and road traffic, numerous RoBs and RuBs have been constructed across various locations in SWR jurisdiction. PM Modi will dedicate and lay foundation stone for various railway projects worth Rs. 1,192Cr through video conferencing on February 26.
