Bhutanala Lake Dried Up Before Summer, People Desperate For Water

Must read

Vijayapura

Due to lack of monsoon rains this time, the problem of drinking water in city has arisen before summer. On the other hand, Bhootana Lake, which is the main source of drinking water for the people of the city, has completely dried up, and they depend on the water from Kolhara, the backwater area of Alamatti Reservoir, and water from Bhootana Lake.

Due to lack of proper rainfall, the amount of water in the backwaters of Alamatti Reservoir and in Bhootana Lake has also decreased and is seen difficult to supply water to the city from Bhootana Lake. Drinking water was supplied to five wards of the city from this lake since earlier and now is seen with water scarcity in Bhootanala Lake. The locals of that ward are worried about the water supply in the future and have demanded that the district administration and the government should take appropriate precautionary measures for the water scarcity as soon as possible.

Shivrudra Bagalkota, a member of the Mahanagara Corporation, said that Vijayapur has a name in the state as a historical district. Although water sources are abundant in the city, drinking water becomes a problem in summer. Minister MB Patil said that, we are supplying water 24 hours a day. But there is no proper water facility in any area of the city. District administration, legislators and Ministers are of no use in this regard.   He demanded that everyone should work together to solve the water problem in the district regardless of party affiliation.
