Shiv Sena (UBT) President Uddhav Thackeray launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging them to shift their focus to governance now that the Lord Ram Temple construction is complete. Addressing a party convention, Thackeray expressed disappointment with the treatment received by his party from the central investigation agencies. He criticized the BJP’s attempts to link Modi with historical figures like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, emphasizing that such comparisons are baseless. Thackeray asserted that Lord Ram is not the exclusive property of any leader or party, accusing the BJP of attempting to hijack the religious figure. He declared the need to ‘free Lord Ram from the BJP’s clutches’ on the occasion of Balasaheb Thackeray’s 98th birth anniversary. In a sharp rebuke, Thackeray challenged the BJP’s criticism of the Congress’s 75-year history, urging them to answer for Modi’s 10-year tenure. He advised PM Modi to not just utter ‘Jai Shri Ram’ but to embody Lord Ram’s ideals in his actions. Accusing the BJP of corruption, Thackeray called for an investigation into the PM Care Fund and questioned the transparency of its funds. He promised to probe alleged scams and corruption once in power. Taking aim at his ally Shiv Sena under Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Thackeray warned of defeating ‘traitors’ in the upcoming elections. He dismissed accusations of running a dynastic party, contrasting his leadership style with the actions of those who defected from other parties. Thackeray criticized the BJP and Shiv Sena for luring leaders from other parties and accused the BJP of adopting a ‘divide-and-rule’ strategy reminiscent of the British era. The political leader expressed determination to continue his party’s legacy and pledged to investigate allegations of corruption once in power.
