Dr N Loganandan, Chief of Hirehalli Krishi Vignana Kendra of Tumakuru, said that the short watershed project is the solution to the agricultural crisis.
He delivered a lecture in a workshop on Conservation and Management of natural resources in relation to agriculture and climate change, organised by JSB Foundation, Kollegala, Gandhiji Sahaja Besaya School, Tumakuru, District Working Journalists Association, State Farmers Association and Hasiru Sene at JH Patel Auditorium.
The only way now is to make people aware of the measures to combat climate change. Today, we have created a huge pressure on our natural resources, due to which the quality of land, water, air, forest, biodiversity and biological resources are getting damaged, he said.
Environmentalist C Yathiraju said that in recent years, the agriculture of countries that are pretending to be developed has been caught up in climate change and is facing great danger.
Scientist of Gandhiji Sahaja Besayashram Dr. H Manjunath said, the district mainly has conflict between wildlife and farmers, livelihood problems of people living in forest and forest edge, plantation of lakhs of trees for big roads in the name of development, encroachment of water resource areas and many other burning issues, he said.
Farmers are growing large, paddy, pea and mustard in the rivers around Mahadeshwar Hill, and KVK and Agriculture Department should urgently do the work of GI tagging them, urged JSB Foundation President S Sasikumar.
