The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has warned those who have put up flexes, banners, cut-outs and other publicity materials in the city, without obtaining permission.
MCC Commissioner CL Anand said that such illegal publicity materials have been causing inconvenience to pedestrians and vehicle users, and it may cause accidents. Hence, he warned of action, including criminal cases, against those who violate the rules.
The MCC will initiate action under provisions of The Karnataka Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1981, against illegal flexes, banners, cut-outs and other publicity materials. Further, criminal cases will be registered against the person or agency, if such illegal publicity materials lead to electrical short circuit or any other accidents, the Commissioner warned.
