Karnataka’s First Hi-Tech Traffic Park Will Come Up In City

Hubli-Dharwad Bus Rapid Transit System (HD-BRTS) will build a hi-tech traffic park at Navanagar  for Rs 3 crore, wherein children will be educated about traffic signs, signal systems and other things. The project, which will be the first in the state, will start on January 20 and elected representatives will lay the foundation stone.
According to HD-BRTS, the project was planned for 2019, but due to changes in the plan and other issues, the project was delayed.

The design for the project was changed several times and now the project is ready to take off.
BRTS has planned for Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) at Navanagar. This work includes a transit plaza and children’s park for four to 12-year-old kids, which will be designed to teach children about traffic signs and signal systems. Also, as part of the project, the landscape of neighbouring streets will be developed along with comfortable seating arrangements and a food court. TOD aims to develop green public spaces, along with transit facilities for citizens, the source added.
HD-BRTS general manager R Gudaraddi told   that the development of the project is under the Directorate of Urban Land Transport for Rs 3 crore in the land of Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC). After the completion of the project, the HDMC will be responsible for the maintenance of the traffic park. The foundation stone will be laid by MLA Arvind Bellad on January 20.Santosh Badiger, Assistant Engineer of HD-BRTS said that the development will take place near BRTS station, Navanagar. HDMC Zonal Assistant Commissioner Ramesh Noolavi said that the park will be built by BRTS and HDMC will maintain it. There are many old trees at the place and it is suggested not to cut those trees, he added.
