A Kolkata court has upheld its decision, requiring the presence of actress-turned-Trinamool Congress MP Nusrat Jahan in a case involving her directorial role with a dubious financial entity. This entity allegedly swindled senior citizens of crores of rupees by promising them affordable residential flats. In September last year, a court mandated Nusrat Jahan’s physical presence in connection with the case. Despite her challenge in a higher court, the order was sustained on Tuesday. In a parallel development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had previously questioned Nusrat Jahan regarding her directorship with 7 Sense Infrastructure Private Ltd, the accused financial entity in the fraud case. The firm stands accused of collecting substantial sums from senior citizens, assuring them budget-friendly residential flats. Contrary to the promises, the funds were allegedly utilized by the directors, including Nusrat Jahan, to purchase personal residential properties. Nusrat Jahan refuted the allegations, asserting that she had taken a loan of approximately Rs 1.16 crore from the corporate entity in question. She claimed to have resigned in March 2017 and repaid the loan, along with an interest exceeding Rs 1.40 crore, within the same month. However, the actress-MP did not address media inquiries regarding her preference for obtaining a loan from a private entity over a bank or a registered financial institution providing housing loans at that time.
