In a significant development, the upcoming Bangalore Suburban Rail Project (BSRP) is poised to elevate Baiyappanahalli, Hebbal, and Yeshwantpur into major transport hubs, alleviating the pressure on the currently bustling Majestic station. The transformation is expected to unfold during 2027-28, redefining the city’s transportation landscape. Currently burdened with heavy traffic and serving as the primary transport junction for the city, Majestic station will witness a reduction in dependence as the new hubs come into operation. Baiyappanahalli, in particular, will emerge as a key interchange station for the suburban rail project, facilitating the convergence of three significant lines: Corridor 2 (Mallige) connecting Baiyappanahalli to Chikkabanavara, Corridor 3 (Parijata) linking Kengeri to Baiyappanahalli, and Corridor 4 (Kanaka) covering Heelalee to Rajanukunte. Additionally, the station will serve as a crucial link to the metro’s purple line, connecting Challagatta to Whitefield. Efforts are underway to enhance the Hebbal flyover into a multi-modal integration (MMI) transport hub. Plans include the construction of a suburban railway station and three metro stations at this strategic junction. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is actively working on a metro station near the BMTC depot as part of the blue line expansion, further enhancing connectivity and accessibility in the region. As these developments unfold, Baiyappanahalli, Hebbal, and Yeshwantpur are set to become vital nodes in Bangalore’s evolving transportation network.
