A recent report by global IT services firm Accenture reveals that generative artificial intelligence (AI) has the capacity to influence 44 percent of working hours across various industries. This transformative technology has the potential to boost productivity in 900 different job types, ultimately creating a global economic value ranging from $6 to $8 trillion. Accenture highlights that an overwhelming 95 percent of business leaders globally believe that integrating technology with a more human touch will significantly expand opportunities in every industry. Paul Daugherty, Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at Accenture, expressed his perspective, stating, As AI, spatial computing, and body-sensing technologies evolve to a point where tech appears to imitate human capabilities and seem invisible, what you’ll see left are the people — empowered with new capabilities to accomplish things they once considered impossible. He emphasized that organizations taking proactive steps to reinvent their business using ‘human by design’ technologies will redefine industry leadership. The report underscores the belief of 96 percent of executives that leveraging AI agent ecosystems will present a substantial opportunity for their organizations in the next three years. Additionally, 94 percent of executives concur that human interface technologies will enhance the understanding of behaviors and intentions, transforming human-machine interaction. Daugherty emphasized the importance of adopting a balanced, ‘human by design’ approach, stating, Human-centered technologies like generative AI are poised to unleash human potential and deliver a staggering array of business and societal benefits, but only if we take a balanced, ‘human by design’ approach that ensures these technologies are used fairly and responsibly.
