In a recent announcement, Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, the district Congress president, voiced concerns about Suzlon company’s land deal, alleging that despite incurring losses, the company chose to sell 1,200 acres of government-acquired land to private entities at substantial profits rather than returning it. In response, mass protests are slated to take place in front of the company on December 23, aiming to highlight these alleged irregularities. During a meeting at the district Congress Bhavan, Kodavoor informed attendees that Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar is expected to participate in a mass public meeting scheduled for December 26 in Byndoor. He urged party activists to join the event in significant numbers. Addressing the gathering, Vinay Kumar Sorake emphasized that the Congress party remains responsive to people’s grievances, organizing programs accordingly. Sorake mentioned ongoing investigations into the Parashuram Theme Park scam in Karkala and irregularities in scrap disposal at Brahmavar sugar factories. A mass movement is now underway to raise awareness about Suzlon company’s alleged land deal irregularities and to spotlight what they perceive as BJP’s overall irregularities. In local politics, Prasad Raj Kanchan disclosed that Shruthi, a dedicated Congress activist, has been chosen as the party’s candidate for the upcoming municipal council by-election for the Perampalli ward. He called upon all activists to contribute to Shruthi’s success for the comprehensive development of the ward. The meeting was attended by various District Congress activists, including Kishan Hegde Kolkebail, Veronica Cornelio, Vasudev Yadial, and several others, demonstrating the unity of the party in addressing these concerns.
